MENTORING SCHEME

We are excited to announce the 2025 AMPS Mentoring Scheme, a year-long initiative designed to connect less experienced members with seasoned professionals across all areas of audio. This scheme is part of AMPS’ mission to champion excellence in sound for film, television, and games, while fostering a supportive, open-minded, and collaborative community. 
 
For new members or those not familiar with the AMPS Mentoring Scheme, this initiative pairs individuals at different stages of their careers to facilitate knowledge-sharing, professional development, and meaningful connections. The scheme is open to all members out of full-time education, with past mentors and mentees telling us how rewarding they found participation. 
 
At AMPS, we believe mentorship is a two-way exchange. While mentees gain valuable insights and guidance, mentors often find their own perspectives enriched by fresh ideas and experiences. Together, we aim to cultivate a community that values learning, inclusivity, and diverse viewpoints—essential to driving creativity and innovation in our industry.
 
About the Scheme

  • Duration: January–December 2025.
  • Commitment: A minimum of 1 hour per quarter, conducted via Zoom, FaceTime, or in person.
  • Flexibility: Pairings may be short- or long-term, with some relationships evolving into lasting connections.

We will do our best to match mentees and mentors within the same geographical area to facilitate in-person meetings where beneficial. While AMPS cannot currently provide mentor training or travel bursaries, we hope to offer such support as the scheme grows.
 
Who Can Participate?
This initiative welcomes participants from all backgrounds and experience levels:

  • Mentors: You don’t need to be a Head of Department to contribute meaningfully - experienced professionals like 1AS or Sound Editors can make excellent mentors.
  • Mentees: Whether you’re starting your career or seeking new perspectives, the scheme is open to anyone eager to grow and learn.

Pairings are not restricted to specific fields, offering participants the opportunity to gain diverse insights and foster cross-disciplinary connections.

  • AMPS MEMBERS- Please find the application form on the MENTORING tab, under MY ACCOUNT when you log in to the website. 
  • Non members- please email mentor@amps.net to discuss access to the scheme!

If you’re unable to participate directly as a mentor or mentee, you can still support the scheme by:

  • Joining the Talent Development Team: Help shape and grow this initiative by donating your time to assist with programme coordination.
  • Spreading the Word: Share this opportunity with colleagues, friends, or anyone who could benefit from or contribute to the scheme.
